A plein air watercolor workshop with IS183 Art School of the Berkshires instructor Marilyn Cromwell will be held at the Clark Art Institute on Sunday, July 12 at 10 am. . Meet at the Lunder Center at Stone Hill on the Clark’s campus; in the case of inclement weather, the class will be held inside the Lunder Center in the Hunter Studio.
Using the Clark’s Van Gogh and Nature exhibition as the point of inspiration, this class explores watercolor as an ideal medium for painting outdoors and capturing the light and color of landscape. Weather permitting, students will work mostly outdoors and cover painting techniques such as graded washes, wet-in-wet, drybrush, and more based on student experience. Students will have the opportunity to try different brushes and papers and learn elements of color theory which will guide their creative decisions.
