This fun family-friendly event features a cupcake baking contest, live entertainment, children’s activities, a chicken barbecue, raffles, vendors and more.
“Several new and expanded activities will make this year’s event even better. We would like to invite bakers and fun makers of all kinds to join in,” said Erica Rogers, co-chair of the Cancer Center Community Crusaders Steering Committee. “We are particularly excited about the addition of a chicken barbecue prepared onsite by Giffy’s BBQ.” Tickets are on sale now from any crew leader, at the cancer center, or at the SVHC Foundation office.
Community organizations, families, friend groups and anyone else who would like to join the crusade to raise funds and support local cancer patients and local cancer research are invited to join the celebration and set up a game booth or activity to benefit the event. No commercial vendors please. Carnival games are especially encouraged.
Bakers and baking teams are invited to set up a tent and participate in the cupcake tasting event. There is a small fee to enter the contest, and participants must bring four full-size cupcakes for the judges and 96 mini-cupcakes for the crowd to sample. There are points for taste, presentation, and imagination. There will be Judges’ Choice and Crowd Favorite awards presented.
For information on how to participate, call Beth Dillard at 802-440-4239 or e-mail beth.dillard@svhealthcare.org.
“Last year’s event was a tremendous success. We raised just over $42,000 for the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center,” said Joanne Holden, co-chair of the Cancer Center Community Crusaders. “All of the money raised stays right here in the community that the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center serves, including Bennington and Windham counties and nearby New York and Massachusetts.”
