SUMMARY:365 Women a Year: A Playwriting Project
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to documenting his-tory\, men have always had the upper hand. Until Now! Our goal is to bring 365 women a year from out of the shadows and give their stories the credit they deserve.\n\nAbout the Project:\n\n \n\nThis international playwriting coalition involves over 200 women across the world who have signed on to write one or more one-acts about extraordinary women in history. The project's ambitious yet focused goal is to write women back into the social consciousness as well as empower and promote female playwrights\, and plant seeds of herstory around the country.\n\n \n\nWe are excited to be hosting a reading event the evening of March 27th\, 2015 in the Bennington College Student Center. Our series features five unique\, original works by Bennington College students and alumni\; After the Thin Man\, by Shellen Lubin\, Feelin Lonely\, by Catherine Weingarten\, White Cotton\, by Shellen Lubin\, En El Medio\, by Maia Villa\, and Making Frankenstein\, by Natalie Osborne. House opens at 7:40pm. Similar productions are also in the works across the U.S. and all the way to Madrid\, Spain. Together we can raise awareness of the gender gap in our history books and on our stages.
